Minutes of Organic Buddies–March 19, 2005

Nureese Salyer was our guest speaker this month. She brought two loaves of her bread to sample and a price list of all the different varieties of breads that she makes. She talked about where the ingredients come from. They’re local, Amish where possible, all organic, and from fields that aren’t near others’ sprayed fields. We have our choice of maple sugar or organic sugar in the breads.

Point of Order–For the benefit of members who aren’t here, what shall we put on the website? Adaline says just add her to our supplier list.

Adaline will make copies of the Ashland Food Cooperative’s bylaws for those without email. Those with email can download them from their website. Amy is supposed to get another food club’s set of bylaws. We are to look at them and see how we can adapt them to our needs, using them as a jumping-off point for writing our own bylaws.

Dr. Kay reports that we can get raw honey from Honey Run Apiaries in Delphos. Their phone number is 419-647-8018.

Nureese reports that she will have a surplus of organic vegetables this year. Please contact her for more information. Her number is 419-224-1386.

We now have a bank account at Superior Credit Union under Adaline’s and Amy’s names. There are savings and checking accounts.

There are discounts of a few dollars on our food orders when we get done. After discussion, we decided to amend the rule about non-working members to be 10% over the catalog price and we keep any discount they give us. [It would go in our general fund.] It’s a real problem trying to figure out the catalog price minus the discount per item plus the 10% surcharge. This is only for those members who just want to order but not do anything within the group.

Nureese says there’s an herb company with great prices on 1 pound packages, no shipping, $5 per order charge. Call her for more information.

Dr. Kay reports that the Avalon CoQ10 Ultra Firm Lotion from our catalog [Frontier?] is great!

The next meeting is Saturday, April 9th; delivery is April 18th; checks are due by April 17th.
