HOUSE CLEANING CHORES TO BEGIN A NEW SERVICE YEAR
These are suggested chores to be completed any time before the first service scheduled for September. Do the work whenever you have time. When you complete a chore, please check it off on this list along with your name and the date. You may see something not listed that you think should be done. Feel free to do whatever you want to, but add it to the list (checked off) so everyone will know it has been completed.
GLOBAL CHORES
Wash all the windows. Outside
Inside
Repair or replace plastic storm windows (inside).
Vacuum all carpets. (Final chore probably Sunday a.m.)
Obtain and hang pictures in service and social rooms.
INDIVIDUAL AREAS
Front Porch
Wash walls and floor and top of railing.
Wash (clean) glass parts of front door and overhead.
Front Hall
Clean and polish floor.
Clean and polish woodwork, tables, stairs.
Clean glass areas of front door and bookcase.
Clean mirror.
Check security of small carpets.
Service Room
If the curtain on the back of the piano has become shabby or out-of-line, replace it.
Clean and polish woodwork, fireplace and lectern.
Wash chairs.
Clean glass and mirror of buffet.
Vacuum carpet.
Set up chairs in usual pattern (close to front and leaving back empty of chairs, except beside the player.)
Somehow dust the pink blinds (hand vacuum?)
Social Room
Clean and polish floor.
Dust the drapes.
(Shake?
Hand vacuum?)
Clean and polish woodwork, furniture and fireplace.
Clear the bulletin board.
Spot clean carpet. Vacuum carpet.
Kitchen and Pantry
Clear the counters of all except essential items. (This means putting a lot of stuff away in drawers and on shelves, or throwing it away.)
Clean counters, sink, stove and tabletops.
Launder dish towels and hang clean ones.
Scrub the linoleum floor.
Shake out or otherwise
clean the window
curtains, as
needed.
If printed instructions for Sunday coffee-making duties have become illegible, rewrite them.
Office
Clear desk and tables of all except essential items. (Either file things or throw them away.)
Remove extraneous furniture and items to be stored.
Dust furniture and vacuum carpet.
Put up a current calendar.
Upstairs
Clean and polish all wood floors.
Clean and polish fireplaces and woodwork.
Clear and clean square table.
Polish piano and other furniture.
Vacuum carpets.
Clean and rearrange the children's classroom
Bathrooms --- on downstairs landing and upstairs
Clean fixtures
Clean floor.
Check and replace soap and towels.
Empty wastebaskets. |
